This week I got some hands-on experience with dip, and giving myself a dip manicure. I used dips from Artistic’s fall and winter collections they came out with this year. The shades I chose were “Artistic Moves” from the BreakOut Beauty Collection, “You’re Stellar” and “Stargazer” from The Big Bang Collection. Now, I had all of the intentions of having a lovely motion picture for you all to enjoy, but let’s just say that this round was a learning experience and when these nails pop off I will record the next set. I love learning new things and would appreciate any advice that you all are able to offer me.
The concept of the “dip” method is an interesting one to me. I am no stranger to the concept, in fact, I have done my own nails using the method from time to time. The thing I chose to change was instead of just applying the dip to my natural nail, I added a tip to the enhancement. Now, I am NOT the most patient person on the planet, so I’m sure you can imagine how all of this went down. The wonderful thing was I did have assistance with this venture so my sanity was not completely lost. (PS if anyone has any tips on how to make shaping an enhancement easier on a person, let me know. Haha.)
My take away from this (and previous) experience, and this is all from my point of view:
Dips without tips are so much easier to do yourself than acrylics, hands down. Adding a tip and wanting to create a specific shape changes the whole game. I struggled when it came to this step because, as I mentioned before, I am not at all patient. But after I had come to terms that this set of nails were not going to be the ones I had pictured in my mind, the application process from that point forward was a breeze, step by step instructions laid out very clearly. I like the way the dip looks on the hand. Even though it is still acrylic powder, a set of dip nails looks completely different from traditional acrylic nails.
I have HUGE respect for those of you that are in the business of doing nails. The amount of detail that goes into a set of nails is more than I could ever imagine. I always knew that the art of doing nails is not an easy one to perfect, but I guess after starting this new venture and all of the knowledge I have gained thus far, I just never truly realized the amount of work that goes into even the most basic nail service. I think that the work you all are capable of doing is incredible and breathtaking and I am excited to continue learning from all of you!
As always, I’m sending you all of the good vibes, energies, and LOVE! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend.
