My Mamaw’s favorite color was burgundy.

Burgundy everywhere, her bedroom, her closet, her jewelry box, everywhere. I’m pretty sure at one point in time, she dyed her hair a burgundy color. I remember her having this white, cloth, drawstring bag that she used to keep all of her nail polish and she kept it easily accessible for when my sister and I wanted to have our nails painted. Which was all the time. And you guessed it, almost every color was a different shade of burgundy. We would squeeze all three of us around a singular tv tray and pick through all of her many burgundy polishes until we found just the right one.

As a child, I didn’t understand what her obsession was. My favorite color was purple at the time and I could remember thinking “But not everything I own is purple.. my Mamaw is crazy.” As an adult, I fully understand because I am IN LOVE with burgundy. I have so many things that are burgundy and I always think to myself that if she could see me now she would give me a big “I told ya so”. It is a color that goes with almost everything and one that should be in your nail polish shade arsenal. Specifically, the shade “Outside the Lines” from Artistic Nail Design’s newest collection, Breakout Beauty.

There are so many fun things that you can do with this color. You can do a gold accent nail or use it in fall inspired nail art, Christmas, the possibilities are endless! This shade definitely is a statement maker. It’s giving us everything we could ever want in a burgundy and adding a delightful golden iridescence that really will make your nails the light of the party. Perfect if you’re going to your first red carpet appearance or running around the corn maze you go to every year. This shade gives you so much freedom as to the colors that you can wear with it. You can have a whole fall inspired color palette in your entire outfit with your manicure being the cherry that goes right on top.

I hope that someone looks at this shade and thinks of you just like I think of my Mamaw. The impact that she made on my life was substantial and I want to hold onto those memories for as long as my brain will let me. Someone out there thinks of you the same way because of the impact you’ve had on them and that really is such a wonderful thing.
